Marc Mailloux Named The Hartford's Vice President of Service Operations and Underwriting for Small Commercial

Sandra Millen, Michael Rankins, Eric White and Kenneth Zygiel Also Named to Leadership Roles Within Small Commercial Operations

Hartford, Conn., April 3, 2008 - The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: HIG), one of the nation's leading diversified financial services companies, announced that Marc Mailloux has been appointed vice president of operations and underwriting for The Hartford's small commercial insurance segment.

In this role, Mailloux will lead The Hartford's small commercial business centers in New Hartford, NY, San Antonio, Texas, and Charlotte, NC which together service more than 1 million customer policies and processes more than $2.7 billion in written premium. He will work closely with The Hartford's small commercial business segment, sales division management, and regional offices as he integrates underwriting, business insurance service, and operational and process management of the centers.

Mailloux will work out of the New Hartford, NY business center.

Reporting to Mailloux will be three newly appointed vice president and managing directors for small commercial, each based in one the company's three business centers. They include Sandra Millen in New Hartford, Michael Rankins in Charlotte and Eric White in San Antonio. Millen, Rankins and White will be responsible for small commercial underwriting, business insurance service and operational management of their respective locations.

Also newly appointed and reporting to Mailloux is Kenneth Zygiel, renewal process owner. Zygiel will be responsible for functional oversight of the renewal processes that support The Hartford's small commercial insurance business. Zygiel will work out of the company's headquarters in Hartford, CT.

Most recently, Mailloux served as vice president and managing director of small commercial underwriting operations in The Hartford's San Antonio business center, where he was responsible for segment underwriting policy and practices.

Since joining The Hartford in 1984, Mailloux has held a number of roles of increasing responsibility in small commercial and middle market underwriting and field operations that included serving as small commercial managing director in New Hartford.

Mailloux holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Hartford.
